Know
your legal rights
If you have been injured on the job you need to know
what your rights are. You should not depend on your
employer or an insurance company to tell you what your
rights are. Only attorneys are authorized to give you
legal advice. Workers compensation laws are different
in every state. Tennessee's laws regarding workers compensation
have undergone changes in recent years, and these changes
may effect your rights. If you have been injured on
the job it is not necessary to establish fault or negligence
on the part of your employer or any one else, to have
the right to receive workers compensation benefits.
You need to establish that the injury occurred within
the course of your employment. If you are injured under
these circumstances you may be entitled to benefits
including: payment of your medical treatment, payment
of temporary total disability benefits while you are
unable to work, permanent, partial or total disability
if you have a permanent injury, and life time medical
benefits.
What
you should do
If you have been injured on the job it is essential
that you provide your employer with notice of the injury.
If you need immediate medical treatment you should ask
to be transported to a local hospital for emergency
treatment. After you have been released from the hospital.
The employer or their insurance carrier will probably
contact you and ask you to select a treating physician.
We recommend that you contact an attorney to advise
you prior to being contacted by the insurance carrier,
this is particularly important if there are serious
injures involved. At our law office we work hard to
make sure that you recover all the money you deserve.
We provide our clients with personalized service. Upon
request we can arrange to meet with you at your home
or hospital.
