11th Death Confirmed by Defective Takata Airbags

We’ve covered the Takata airbag recalls before on this blog, but due to recent events, we feel it necessary to remind Nashvillians of the acute danger they may be placing themselves in every time they get behind the wheel.

In recent years, it was discovered that more than 70 million vehicles may contain defective airbag systems manufactured by Takata. These airbags have a high risk of rupturing when inflated, causing serious injuries or even death to the driver and their passengers. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has just confirmed an eleventh death from a defective Takata airbag. The victim was a 50-year old female who sustained fatal injuries when the airbag in her vehicle ruptured upon inflation.

The NHTSA strongly urges anyone with a vehicle on the following list to immediately contact their dealership for a no-cost repair:

  • 2001-2002 Honda Civic
  • 2001-2002 Honda Accord
  • 2002-2003 Acura 3.2TL
  • 2002 Honda CR-V
  • 2002 Honda Odyssey
  • 2003 Acura 3.2CL
  • 2003 Honda Pilot
