CLARKSVILLE, TN – On Sunday morning, authorities located the car that plunged into Cumberland River last Tuesday and confirmed its driver was killed in the accident, reports News Channel 5.
As we previously reported, witnesses initially reported seeing a car leave the roadway and plunge into the Cumberland River near Riverside Drive and West Washington Street around 9:30 p.m. last Tuesday, December 22nd.
Crews began searching for the vehicle Tuesday night but were called off when divers could not enter the water due to the river current and poor weather conditions.
The river was finally safe to enter on Sunday morning around 10 a.m. and crews resumed the search. They found the vehicle around 11:30 a.m. with its driver, 18-year-old Jasonah Crawford inside.
