Authorities searching for car that plunged into Cumberland River

CLARKSVILLE, TN – Multiple crews were sent to search for a car that plunged into the Cumberland River on Tuesday, reports Clarksville NOW.

Witnesses at the scene reported seeing a car exit the roadway near Riverside Drive and West Washington Street and then plunge into the Cumberland River north of the RJ Corman Bridge.

According to officials, Clarksville Police, Montgomery County Rescue Squad, Clarksville Fire Rescue, and Montgomery County EMS responded to the scene around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday night to conduct a search for the vehicle.

These crews were called off late Tuesday around 10:30 p.m. but planned to continue the search Wednesday morning.
