NASHVILLE, TN – Police said two people died following an incident that involved a crash and a shooting in Nashville early Tuesday morning, the Tennessean reported.
Officials said a Ford F-150 pickup truck collided with the side of a tractor-trailer on Interstate 24 near Shelby Avenue at about 3:15 a.m. The shooting took place inside the pickup, which was reported stolen last week from outside a home on Cain Harbor Drive in South Nashville.
The driver and a passenger in the pickup died, while two other passengers, ages 16 and 14, were injured and taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Investigators are trying to determine what led to the gunfire.
The incident shut down eastbound lanes on I-24 in downtown Nashville for several hours while authorities responded to the scene, slowing traffic at the Shelby Avenue exit. The lanes reopened shortly after 7:30 a.m.
