Crash alert: 3 vehicles involved in fatal wreck on I-40

SEVIERVILLE, TN – Three vehicles were involved in a fatal crash that shut down a stretch of Interstate 40 Tuesday morning.

According to Knox News, the wreck involved a pickup truck, a small passenger vehicle and a truck pulling a travel trailer. It occurred at about 7:30 a.m. on I-40 East near mile marker 406 in Sevierville.

Police said one person in the pickup truck was killed and two others were hospitalized at University of Tennessee Medical Center. The victim’s identity has not yet been released.

One person in the passenger vehicle was also hurt and taken to the hospital.

Authorities shut down a portion of I-40 eastbound for several hours for the accident investigation.
