CHATTANOOGA, TN – Five people were killed in a collision involving a minivan and a semi-truck on Interstate 24 Monday morning, according to WLVT and the Associated Press.
Police said a Honda Odyssey went off I-24 east near mile marker 180 in Chattanooga shortly before 10:20 a.m. and crashed into the rear of the truck that was parked on the shoulder of the interstate. The driver of the minivan and all four passengers inside died at the scene. Their identities have not yet been released. The driver of the semi-truck was not injured.
A stretch of I-24 was shut down near the crash scene before reopening Monday afternoon.
Investigators are trying to determine the cause of the fatal wreck.
