FAIRFIELD GLADE, TN – An elderly woman was injured when she was struck by a vehicle in Cumberland County Wednesday. 1057 News reports the incident happened in the parking lot of Food City near Peavine Road in Fairfield Glade.
According to police, 85-year-old Frances Fuentes was hit by a vehicle driven by 59-year-old Michele L. Alfont of California. Investigators said it happened when Alfont was backing up as Fuentes was walking in between a parking isle.
Fuentes was knocked to the ground and hospitalized at Cumberland Medical Center. No information was released on her condition.
It marked the 8th time this year that a pedestrian has been hit by a vehicle in the county, and police issued a reminder to drivers to be extra cautious when traveling in congested parking lots.
