BRENTWOOD, TN – A collision on Interstate 65 in Brentwood Wednesday morning left the roadway shut down and traffic gridlocked, News Channel 5 reports.
The crash, which involved a pickup truck and a semi hauling steel, occurred on I-65 near Exit 74 for Old Hickory Boulevard and was reported at about 9:30 a.m.
Police said no injuries were reported. The semi lost its load and the vehicle’s cab caught fire, according to the Tennessee Highway Patrol.
The southbound lanes of I-65 were closed following the crash and traffic delays stretching back for miles were reported, as drivers were urged to avoid the area.
One lane reopened before noon, but state officials did not expect the interstate to be fully reopened until at least 9:30 p.m.
