NASHVILLE, TN – Police say a driver was killed when his car crashed on Interstate 40 in Nashville Tuesday afternoon, according to the Tennessean.
The accident happened on I-40 east downtown at the Broadway exit shortly after 2 p.m. Investigators said the victim, a 21-year-old Nashville man, was driving a Ford Fusion at a high rate of speed when he lost control of the vehicle.
The car went across three lanes of the highway onto the exit ramp to Broadway and crashed head-on into a rock wall. The man, whose name has not yet been released, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said he was not wearing his seatbelt at the time.
Authorities shut down I-40 in the vicinity of the crash scene for several hours.
