Crash alert: Driver injured when car crashes into trees off I-40 east

CUMBERLAND COUNTY, TN – A driver was hospitalized after a car accident on Interstate 40 late Monday afternoon.

According to 1057 News, 55-year-old Stephen Brown was driving a Chevrolet Corvette at a high rate of speed on I-40 east at mile marker 314 when he lost control of the vehicle.  The Tennessee Highway Patrol said the car went down an embankment and crashed into several trees.

Brown, of Cookeville, was transported to University of Tennessee Medical Center for treatment. No details were released on the extent of his injuries.  He was not restrained at the time of the crash.

Charges are pending in the case, state troopers said.
