Crash alert: DUI checkpoint to be set up in Nashville on Labor Day

by Ponce Law | September 4th, 2020

NASHVILLE, TN – Police officers in Nashville will be on the lookout for impaired drivers on Labor Day.

Fox 17 reports a sobriety checkpoint will be set up on Bell Road in Hermitage. It will be staffed by the Metro Nashville Police DUI unit and other officers, starting in late afternoon and going through the early evening hours. A grant from the Tennessee Highway Safety Office is funding the additional police presence.

In 2019, Nashville police responded to over 800 crashes involving drivers impaired by alcohol, and the incidents resulted in over 500 injuries. 41% of the fatal crashes in Davidson County last year involved driver impairment.

People who drive under the influence (DUI) of alcohol or other drugs have reduced reaction times, impaired vision and judgment, and are more likely to cause serious accidents. At Ponce Law, we have no tolerance for drunk drivers because we’ve seen the pain that their irresponsible behaviors can cause. Our Nashville car accident attorneys will hold the drunk driver responsible for your injuries accountable, and help you get the money you deserve for your medical bills and vehicle repairs. If you or someone you love was injured by a drunk driver, call us at (844) 204-6765 or fill out a free initial consultation form, today.
