NASHVILLE, TN – A man who got out of his car on a highway near Antioch was fatally struck by another vehicle Tuesday morning, according to WSMV.

The incident happened at 4:30 a.m. on Interstate 24 westbound between Harding Place and Briley Parkway at mile marker 53.

According to Metro Police, 20-year-old Andres Perez was driving a Honda Civic when he lost control of the car and hit a retaining wall.  When he exited the vehicle that had come to rest in a lane, apparently to check the damage, he was struck by a Ford Taurus that was also heading west.

Perez, of Nashville, was pronounced dead later at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.  The driver of the Taurus was not seriously hurt.

Police are still investigating the incident but do not anticipate filing charges.
