by Ponce Law | September 3rd, 2020

SUMNER COUNTY, TN – A woman is facing a new charge following the death of a child who was involved in an accident last month in Sumner County, WKRN reports.

This is an update to a previous story.

The incident happened Aug. 16 at about 5:30 p.m. on Highway 25 West, where authorities say Michaela Morales passed an SUV and then struck the vehicle. The SUV hit a fence and a tree before landing in a pond. Three people inside were injured, including a child who was taken off life support last Friday.

Morales has now been charged with vehicular homicide in addition to the previous charges filed against her, which included DUI, leaving the scene of an accident, and aggravated assault.

Morales was arrested at her home following the crash. She remains in custody on a $75,000 bond.
