Crash alert: State “Slow Poke law extended

by Ponce Law | July 2nd, 2020

NASHVILLE, TN – Among the new laws taking effect Wednesday in the state of Tennessee was a change to the so-called “Slow Poke” law to cover more roads.

1057 News reported that the measure has now been extended to divided highways with two or more lanes in each direction. It previously applied only to divided highways of three or more lanes. Drivers are subject to $50 fines for driving in the left lane if they are not passing other vehicles, or if the road is under construction or repair.

The “Slow Poke” law was enacted due to the dangers of those who drive too slowly, which can cause highway accidents.
