SEVIERVILLE, TN – One teenager was killed and another injured when their car crashed in Sevierville early Tuesday morning, WATE reports.
Police said their vehicle was speeding in the 700 block of West Main Street at about 1:50 a.m. when the incident occurred. The vehicle crossed over the median from the westbound to the eastbound lanes and rolled over when it went off the roadway.
The driver, 18-year-old Elyazid Belharouak of Knoxville, was pronounced dead at the University of Tennessee Medical Center. A passenger, 17-year-old Ty Witt of Knoxville, was hospitalized but the injuries were not life-threatening.
Investigators are trying to determine the cause of the crash.
The eastbound lanes of West Main Street were shut down following the accident and reopened several hours later.
