Crash alert: Woman charged with running SUV off the road

SUMNER COUNTY, TN – A woman was arrested in Sumner County Sunday after she allegedly ran a vehicle off the road and caused it to crash.

According to WKRN, Michaela Morales is facing charges of vehicular assault and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in connection with the incident, which happened at about 5:30 p.m. on Highway 25 West.

Police said she passed an SUV in a no-passing zone and struck the vehicle, which then hit a fence and a culvert. It went on to hit a tree before eventually landing in a pond. Three people inside the SUV were injured, including a child who was seriously hurt.

The victims were able to give a description of the vehicle that hit them and Sumner County deputies then tracked down Morales at her home, where she was taken into custody.
