Crash alert: Woman driving wrong way killed in crash on I-24

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, TN – Authorities say a woman driving in the wrong direction was killed in a crash in Montgomery County. According to WKRN, the accident happened near the 9.4 mile marker on Interstate 24 Tuesday night at about 11:30 p.m.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol said 24-year-old Fredneshea Thompson of Erwin was driving eastbound in the westbound lanes of I-24 and crashed into another vehicle.

Thompson was pronounced dead at the scene after being pulled from her vehicle. The driver of the other vehicle and a passenger were treated at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. No details were available on the extent of their injuries.

It was not immediately clear why Thompson was driving the wrong way.
