CUMBERLAND COUNTY, TN – A worker was struck by the mirror of a vehicle driving through a Cumberland County construction zone Monday. 1057 News reported that the road construction worker escaped injury in the incident.

It happened on the 1600 block of Old Mail Road. The worker, 38-year-old Scottie Atkins of Luttrell, Tennessee, said he was hit by the vehicle’s side mirror after getting off a trailer where he had been loading a skid steer.

The driver, a woman from Crossville, said she heard a bang after the incident but thought it came from the work zone and did not realize at the time that the man had been struck.
