MURFREESBORO, TN – One person was killed and three others injured in a head-on collision in Murfreesboro on Sunday, WKRN reported.

Authorities say a woman was driving a Honda Accord west on Medical Center Parkway when she lost control while crossing a bridge near Warren Street and crossed into the oncoming lane of traffic, crashing into a Ford Mustang.

First responders extricated the driver of the Mustang and a passenger in the back seat, 34-year-old Maximo Chicaj-Lopez. Lopez, of Antioch, was pronounced dead at an area hospital.

A 5-year-old girl in the Accord was injured and transported to the hospital.  Police determined that the driver of the Accord hydroplaned after going too fast for the weather conditions.

An investigation is ongoing by the Fatal Accident Crash Team, and so far no charges have been filed.
