A tragic motor vehicle collision near the campus of Middle Tennessee State University has claimed the life of a well-known student. The incident occurred on Friday, Jan. 24, at the corner of Middle Tennessee Boulevard and Greenland Drive in Murfreesboro.

Reports published by the Daily News Journal stated the victim was crossing the street in wheelchair at the intersection when he was struck by a turning dump truck. Rescue crews were called to the scene and tried to revive the victim, but they were unable to resuscitate him.

The victim had been involved in a serious accident in 2006 that left him paralyzed.

The victim’s brother says the initial accident left the man in a coma for several months. During his recovery, he gathered strength from numerous sources, such as prayer and music. Those who knew the victim best say he always remained positive despite the setbacks he faced, and he was a beacon of hope to all that knew him.
