News: Fatal auto-pedestrian collision on I-24 in Clarksville

CLARKSVILLE, TN – Officials with the Tennessee Highway Patrol say a pedestrian was fatally struck by a vehicle traveling eastbound on Interstate 24 on Sunday, reports WKRN.

According to the preliminary crash report, the pedestrian was walking westbound in the left lane of I-24 east when he was struck and killed near mile marker 15.6.

The driver of the vehicle did not have enough time to avoid the collision.

At this time, the identity of the pedestrian and the reason they were standing in the roadway is unknown.

Authorities are working to perform fingerprint identification and an autopsy.
