CLARKSVILLE, TN – The Tennessee Highway Patrol say one motorist is dead following multiple crashes on Interstate 24 east in Clarksville on Wednesday morning, reports Clarksville Now.
The Tennessee Department of Transportation say the collisions occurred around 9:17 a.m at mile marker 10.
According to THP’s preliminary report, the first crash slowed traffic to a stop, leading 31-year-old Devin M. Sproles of Clarksville to crash his 2018 utility van into the rear end of a stopped commercial Freightliner vehicle.
Sproles was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. Although it is unclear if he was wearing a seatbelt, THP’s report says it would not have been enough to save him.
It is also unclear if anyone else was injured.
