ASHVILLE, TN – A 39-year-old woman has been charged with DUI following a collision that took the life of a man and his mother Wednesday night.
According to WKRN, the accident occurred at the intersection of East Old Hickory Boulevard and Myatt Drive at about 7:30 p.m.
Police say Heather Markman, 39, was attempting to turn left onto Myatt Dr. when she crossed in front of an oncoming 2003 Chevrolet Impala and crashed head-on into the driver’s side of the Chevrolet.
Both occupants in the second vehicle, 61-year-old Robert Wood and his 93-year-old Mother Mary Wood, were killed in the crash.
Markman admitted to paramedics on the way to the hospital that she had consumed a number of alcoholic beverages prior to the crash. She was subsequently arrested and charged with DUI.
