Pedestrian dies after being struck by train in South Nashville

NASHVILLE, TN – Police responded to a fatal collision in which a pedestrian was struck and killed by a train at the 700 block of Berry Road Monday night, reports WZTV.

Officials say the accident was reported shortly before 8 p.m. Monday at the train tracks on the 700 block of Berry Road, on the north side of the I-65/I-440 interchange.

According to the preliminary accident report, the pedestrian was killed in the collision.

Train strikes truck in train crossing

NASHVILLE, TN – A train struck a truck in Hermitage on Dec. 1, according to WKRN.

A train leaving Riverfront Station collided with a truck in the crossing at Brandau Road at around 4:20 p.m.

None of the 27 people on the train at the time of the accident were injured. Information about the driver of the truck has not been released.

Crash alert: Police identify woman fatally struck by train in Antioch

NASHVILLE, TN – A woman who was fatally struck by a train in Antioch last week has been identified, according to the Tennessean.

This is an update to a previous story.

Metro police said the victim was 47-year-old Katherine Taflinger of Nashville.  According to police, she was hit by a CSX freight train on Wednesday afternoon while walking on tracks near Crossings Boulevard and Mt. View Road.  Investigators said she did not respond to the train’s horn, and the incident is believed to have been an accident.

No one else was injured.

Crash alert: Woman on tracks in Antioch struck and killed by train

NASHVILLE, TN – An investigation is underway after a woman was struck and killed by a train in Antioch, WSMV reports.

The incident happened Wednesday afternoon at about 2:10 p.m. as the woman reportedly walked on tracks in the area of Crossings Boulevard and Mount View Road.  Officials said she was hit by a CSX freight train and died of her injuries. The victim’s identity was not released.  The crew on the train was not hurt.

CSX issued a statement expressing its sympathies over the fatal incident, and said it was supporting local law enforcement in the investigation.
