Mr. Powell is my daughter’s English teacher. She comes home every day talking about his class, his stories, how much she loves reading and writing in his class, and how much she is learning. She had a major sports injury this year and was out for a couple of weeks with surgery then came back to school on crutches for 6 weeks. He has been more than supportive and helpful with her keeping up with her school work and encouraging her not only in her academics but in her injury recovery. I could not dream of a better teacher and influence for my daughter during her freshman year of high school that is already full of ups and downs, so many changes and growth. Because of his love of English, teaching and the students, she is engaged and becoming a better writer each week. Mr. Powell is deserving of this honor and so many others for the work he does at GHS.
