The driver, 19-year-old Kaitlynn Dubois of Pembroke, said she was adjusting her stereo while accelerating after turning onto Eagle Way from Bradshaw road when the accident occurred. She told officers she initially thought she hit a deer but called her father and returned to the scene.
Patterson was found by Dubois in the median of the roadway. Dubois and her father tried to revive him with CPR but were unsuccessful. According to officials, Patterson’s outfit was entirely dark and he was declared deceased at the scene.
