Crash alert: Boy dies after gate accident in Nashville

NASHVILLE, TN – A young boy has died following an accident involving an automated gate in Nashville, WCYB reported.

The incident happened June 11 at the new Metropolitan Development and Housing Agency Towers at 816 South 6th Street.  According to Metro Police, the 7-year-old was playing with the gate when he rolled into a motor shaft and became trapped.

Police responded to the scene and extricated the child from the machinery.  He had sustained a severe head injury and was transported to Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt in critical condition.  The boy passed away Tuesday morning.

Investigators believe it was an unfortunate accident, police said.
