Crash alert: Driver dies after multi-vehicle crash on Murfreesboro Pike

NASHVILLE, TN – A multi-vehicle accident in Nashville Monday morning left one person dead and several others injured.

According to News Channel 5, the crash occurred on Murfreesboro Pike near Mt. View Road shortly before 7 a.m. Investigators determined that 25-year-old Chevalier Walden lost control of his Nissan Altima while in a curve.  Walden drove into traffic, hitting two other cars before his vehicle was struck by a pickup truck.

Walden was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.  He was not wearing a seat belt, authorities said.  People in the other three vehicles were hospitalized with injuries that were not life-threatening.

Metro police said speed was the main contributing factor in the wreck, adding there were no indications of drug or alcohol use by any of the drivers.

Crash alert: Power outage in Joelton after car hits utility pole

JOELTON, TN – A car accident in Joelton Tuesday night knocked out power to nearly 400 customers, Fox 17 Nashville reports.

Nashville Electric Service said that a car crashed into a utility pole, which broke from the impact. An update at 8:30 p.m. said power had been restored to all customers following the outage.

There was no immediate information on whether anyone was injured in the crash.

NASHVILLE, TN – A motor vehicle accident in northwest Nashville Monday night left one person critically injured, according to WSMV.

The single-vehicle crash happened in the 2100 block of Buena Vista Pike in the city’s Bordeaux neighborhood, and was reported at about 9:45 p.m.

Police did not release any further details on the identity of the person who was injured. The circumstances that led to the crash were not yet known.

Crash alert: Nashville man dies after car crashes during rainstorm

NASHVILLE, TN – Authorities say a man driving too fast during a rainstorm was killed in a crash in Nashville over the weekend, the Tennessean reports.

The victim of the two-vehicle wreck was identified as 36-year-old Robert Weaver of Nashville. Investigators said he was driving his Honda Fit south on Old Hickory Road near Logistics Way at about 2:15 p.m. Saturday when the car began to hydroplane in the rain.

The Honda crossed over into oncoming traffic and crashed into a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck driven by 57-year-old Frankie Rhone.  Weaver was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said he was not wearing his seatbelt at the time. Rhone was hospitalized with injuries that were not life-threatening.

Investigators said Weaver’s excessive speed in light of the road and weather conditions appeared to be the main preliminary cause of the accident.

Crash alert: Multi-vehicle crash blocks ramp on I-40 westbound

DAVIDSON COUNTY, TN – Tennessee 511 alerted drivers to a multi-vehicle crash that was slowing down traffic in part of Davidson County Tuesday afternoon.

The accident occurred on Interstate 40 westbound between Exit 205 for 46th Avenue/West Nashville and Exit 204 for SR-155/Briley Parkway/White Bridge Road.  It was reported shortly before 1 p.m.

The on-ramp to I-40 was blocked, affecting westbound traffic. No delays were reported for traffic heading east.

The Tennessee Department of Transportation estimated the scene would be cleared by 2:57 p.m.

Crash alert: Titans cheerleader injured in car accident on Nashville highway

NASHVILLE, TN – A two-car accident on Interstate 40 in Nashville left a Tennessee Titans cheerleader critically injured, according to WSMV.

Police said 24-year-old Patrick Holz was driving a Jeep Wrangler on I-40 east at Exit 210C just before midnight on Saturday when the crash occurred.

Investigators said Holz’s vehicle was hit from behind by a Ford Explorer and the cars went skidding along a guardrail.

The Jeep rolled and Holz was thrown from his vehicle. He was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. Authorities said he was not wearing a seat belt at the time. The driver of the Explorer was hospitalized, but the injuries were not regarded as life-threatening.

According to police, the crash was apparently caused by the driver of the Ford Explorer not yielding the right of way.

NASHVILLE, TN – Police are investigating a car crash that killed a 42-year-old woman in Nashville early Sunday morning.

According to WSMV, the victim was identified as Rachel Kaplan of Pinellas Park, Florida. Metro Nashville police said she was driving a Dodge Challenger on East Thompson Lane at a high rate of speed at about 12:30 a.m. when the accident occurred. Investigators determined that Kaplan lost control of the car as she was crossing a bridge over Mill Creek near Wimpole Drive. The vehicle slammed into a concrete wall on the bridge and Kaplan was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said she was not wearing a seat belt at the time, and there were no immediate signs that drug or alcohol contributed to the deadly crash.

NASHVILLE, TN – A driver was killed in a fiery crash on Interstate 65 in Madison over the weekend, according to Fox 17 Nashville.

Police said the man was driving a Mazda CX-5 on I-65 north just before 1 a.m. Sunday when the vehicle went off the road. It slammed into a concrete block that was being used for mounting signage on the highway. The car went up in flames and the driver died at the scene.

The victim was a 29-year-old man from Franklin, authorities said. His name has not yet been released.

NASHVILLE, TN – A driver was rushed to the hospital following an accident that disrupted traffic on Interstate 40 in Nashville Sunday morning, according to WSMV.

Police said the crash involving two vehicles occurred on I-40 eastbound in the area of Exit 210C.  One of the drivers was thrown from their vehicle and transported to Vanderbilt Medical Center. The person, whose identity has not been released, sustained injuries that were considered life-threatening.  No other injuries have been reported at this time.

The Metro Fatal Team of the Nashville Police Department is investigating the wreck, which shut down I-40 east in the area for about seven and a half hours.
