Crash alert: Two 18-year-olds killed when car crashes in Nashville

NASHVILLE, TN – Two young men died when their car crashed on a road in Nashville Saturday night, WKRN reports.

Metro Police said the victims were both 18-year-old Nashville residents. One of them was driving a Chevrolet Camaro at high speed in the 200 block of Franklin Limestone Road when the accident occurred at about 8:15 p.m. Investigators said the driver lost control of the car while going around a curve and ran off the road.  The vehicle struck a tree and burst into flames.

The driver and passenger were pronounced dead at the scene. Their names have not yet been released.

Crash alert: Victim of I-65 wreck identified as Nashville musician

NASHVILLE, TN – The victim of a crash on Interstate 65 Sunday night has been identified as a Nashville musician, News Channel 5 reports.

This is an update to a previous story.

Police said the man who died in the accident was 37-year-old Shawn Scruggs, a bass player who had been performing on Lower Broadway on a regular basis for the past decade.

Investigators said Scruggs was driving a Chevrolet Blazer at about 7 p.m. when he slammed into the back of a tractor-trailer that had stalled out on I-65 North near Dickerson Pike.  Scruggs was pronounced dead at the scene.

The tractor-trailer driver was not hurt in the crash.

Crash alert: Man facing charges after fatal collision in south Nashville

NASHVILLE, TN – A man is facing charges in connection with a fatal accident in Nashville early Sunday morning, according to NewsChannel 5.

This is an update to a previous story.

Police said 23-year-old Jose Damaso-Hernandez was driving a Ford pickup truck at about 12:40 a.m. on Bell Road when he crossed a center line and struck a Scion sedan head-on.

Two people in the Scion were killed. Damaso-Hernandez was critically injured and a 5-year-old girl in the pickup was also hurt.

Damaso-Hernandez was allegedly driving drunk at the time of the crash. Police have issued arrest warrants against him on several charges, including two counts of vehicular homicide by intoxication and vehicular assault. Authorities say he will be arrested after being discharged from the hospital.

Crash alert: Person pinned after car hits pole in Nashville

NASHVILLE, TN – Police in Nashville responded to a crash that left one person trapped and seriously injured on Monday night, WKRN reported.

The accident happened near Atrium Way and Elm Hill Pike, where a car struck a pole. The injured person was trapped inside the vehicle.

There were two other people inside the car at the time, but both appeared to have escaped serious injury. No details were immediately released on what led to the accident.
