Crash alert: Driver charged in death of motorcyclist

NASHVILLE, TN – A truck driver is facing charges in connection with a crash that killed a motorcyclist on Briley Parkway last month, according to a report by WSMV.

This is an update to a previous story.

Police said 63-year-old David Hayden of Calhoun, Kentucky, was arrested Tuesday on a warrant charging him with vehicular homicide by recklessness.

According to investigators, Hayden was driving a tractor-trailer north on Briley Parkway July 10 when he missed an exit to Interstate 24 and stopped on the roadway. 35-year-old Roderick Left of Madison was riding a Suzuki motorcycle and crashed into the back of Hayden’s truck. Left was pronounced dead at a hospital.

Motorcyclist dead after accident in Greene County

GREENE COUNTY, TN – A motorcyclist was killed in a collision with a tractor trailer in Greene County Monday afternoon, WVLT reported.

The accident happened at about 12:30 p.m. in the 14,000 block of Kingsport Highway, also known as State Route 93.

According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, 49-year-old Logan Collins of Belfry, Kentucky was riding a Suzuki motorcycle when it crossed the center line and hit the tractor trailer as it was headed in the opposite direction.

Collins died in the crash.  The truck driver was not hurt.

Collins’s license has been suspended and he was not wearing a helmet, according to state troopers.

Man killed in motorcycle wreck in Nashville

NASHVILLE, T.N. – News 4 Nashville reports that a man was tragically killed in a motorcycle accident in Nashville on the afternoon of Wednesday, June 3.

30-year-old Eric Pullens was traveling near the 800 block of Cowan Street on his Honda motorcycle when he attempted to cross the road’s double yellow lines to pass a vehicle. He then lost control of his motorcycle and crashed at 12:45 p.m.

Pullens was rushed to Vanderbilt Medical Center where he was declared deceased. Authorities say there was no trace of drugs or alcohol in his system at the time of the crash.
