MURFREESBORO, TN – A motorcyclist was rescued after being trapped under a vehicle following a crash in Murfreesboro.
The Rutherford Source reported the motorcycle rider was involved in a crash with a sport utility vehicle on Mall Circle Drive next to Home Depot at about 5 p.m. Saturday.
Authorities say several civilians rendered their assistance by using car jacks from their vehicles to lift the SUV off of the motorcyclist. Murfreesboro fire crews and a store employee also helped by stabilizing the SUV.
The motorcycle rider was taken to the hospital along with three people who were inside the other vehicle. No details were released on their conditions.
Murfreesboro Police are investigating the crash.

MURFREESBORO, TN – A car crashed into a home as part of a multi-vehicle accident in Murfreesboro Thursday, according to WKRN.
The crash happened at the intersection of Clark Boulevard and Hodge Drive. Investigators said the driver of a Nissan Altima trying to turn onto Hodge collided with an SUV, causing it to flip. A Nissan Maxima crashed into the Nissan, which then hit the side of a home.
The driver of that car was extricated and transported to a hospital. The other drivers were not hurt and no other injuries were reported.
The incident affected traffic in the area, as the intersection of Clark Boulevard and Memorial Boulevard was shut down while one lane between Highland Avenue and Memorial Boulevard was also closed.

MURFREESBORO, TN – A teenager riding a skateboard was struck and killed by an SUV in Rutherford County over the weekend, WSMV reports.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol said the victim, a 13-year-old boy, was on the 700 block of Powell’s Chapel Roat in Murfreesboro Saturday when he was hit by a Ford Expedition.
Family members identified the boy as Nathaniel “Nate” Elijah Isbell of LaVergne. He was an eighth-grade student at Rock Springs Middle School in Smyrna.
The driver of the vehicle involved will not face any charges, troopers said.

MURFREESBORO, TN – A young man was arrested following a crash involving a stolen car in Murfreesboro Tuesday, according to Fox 17 Nashville.
18-year-old Steven Birdwell was behind the wheel of a stolen Dodge Charger on Mercury Boulevard, police said. He allegedly drove through a red light and collided with two vehicles. There was no word on whether anyone was injured.
Police said Birdwell and a male passenger got out of the vehicle and took off on foot, but Birdwell was taken into custody at a gas station. The passenger remains at large.
Birdwell now faces a number of charges, including theft, reckless driving and evading arrest.

MURFREESBORO, TN – A pickup truck driver was hospitalized in critical condition after crashing into a tree in Murfreesboro over the weekend, News Channel 5 reported.
The accident happened Saturday night near the 2100 block of Memorial Boulevard. The driver was trapped inside the vehicle after hitting the tree and had to be rescued by emergency crews with the Murfreesboro Fire Rescue Department.
A northbound lane of Memorial Boulevard was shut down following the accident and drivers were advised to take alternate routes.
Police are investigating the crash.

MURFREESBORO, TN – State troopers have released additional information regarding a deadly tractor-trailer accident Friday night on Interstate 24, according to the Murfreesboro Post.
This is an update to a previous story.
The victim was identified as 43-year-old Jonathan Walker of Hartsville. He was driving his commercial vehicle hauling cattle on I-24 between Interstate 840 and Almaville Road when the accident occurred at about 5:45 p.m.
Investigators with the Tennessee Highway Patrol said a Honda Accord driven by a 17-year-old went out of control, hit a cable barrier and spun in front of Walker’s vehicle. The tractor-trailer crashed and caught fire.
The 17-year-old, from Murfeesboro, was injured in the accident.

MURFREESBORO, TN – A tractor-trailer hauling cattle was involved in a fatal crash in Rutherford County Friday night.
News Channel 5 reports the incident happened on Interstate 24 west between I-840 and Almaville Road at about 5:50 p.m.
The tractor-trailer collided with a passenger vehicle at the 72 mile marker, killing one person. It was not yet clear whether the victim was in the truck or the other vehicle. The accident led to a fire that was extinguished by Murfreesboro Fire and Rescue.
The Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office said deputies responding to the scene had to corral the cattle onto a field. All lanes of I-24 west were shut down in the area while crews responded but reopened later in the evening.

MURFREESBORO, TN – A 71-year-old bicyclist was killed in an accident while riding on a street in Murfreesboro Wednesday, WSMV reports.
Police identified the victim as Herbert Knee of Murfreesboro. He was riding a bicycle north on South Church Street shortly before 1 p.m. when the incident occurred. Investigators determined that a woman driving a Nissan Altima was trying make a right turn from Runnymeade Drive onto South Church Street and collided with the bicyclist.
Knee was thrown from the bike and was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
The 20-year-old Altima driver was not hurt and no charges were filed in the accident, though the investigation is continuing.

RUTHERFORD COUNTY, TN – A driver was killed when her car went off a highway in Rutherford County and crashed Monday afternoon. According to WSMV, the accident happened at about 2 p.m. on Interstate 24 West between mile markers 71 and 72.
The victim was identified as 21-year-old Andreana Vega of Antioch. The Tennessee Highway Patrol said she was driving west in a Hyundai Elantra when the vehicle went off the right shoulder of the road and hit a tree.
I-24 West in the area was shut down following the accident.
Investigators are looking into the cause of the fatal wreck. Troopers said Vega was not wearing a seat belt at the time.

MURFREESBORO, TN – A man killed in a fatal accident in Murfreesboro earlier this month has been identified, according to the Rutherford Source.

Authorities say the victim of the Sept. 2 crash was 59-year-old Ricky Allen Thomas of Murfreesboro.
According to investigators, Thomas was driving a Ford Ranger pickup truck south on North Rutherford Boulevard when the vehicle went off the roadway and slammed into a tree.
An investigation into the fatal wreck is ongoing.
