News: Multi-vehicle crash on Briley Pkwy injures one

NASHVILLE, TN – According to WSMV, a driver was injured following a multi-vehicle crash on Briley Parkway on Sunday morning.

The accident involved three vehicles, one of which was a tanker truck. The collision happened in the eastbound lanes near the exit to Whites Creek Pike around 6:30 a.m.

Authorities say one of the drivers, who may have been driving the wrong way, was injured in the crash.

Lengthy traffic closures ensued, as crews worked to empty the tanker truck before clearing the roadway of debris. Vehicles were diverted to Whites Creek Pike at the exit.

By noon, one lane was reopened. It is unclear when the roadway was fully cleared.

News: Rollover crash on I-24 East in South Nashville kills driver, injures passenger

NASHVILLE, TN – According to officials, a rollover crash on I-24 East in South Nashville on Saturday morning left the driver dead and a passenger injured, reports News Channel 5.

The accident involved a single vehicle and occurred near Exit 57 to Haywood Lane around 4:30 a.m.

Nashville metro police say that 30-year-old Meganne Ball of Nolensville was heading eastbound on I-24 in a 2012 Nissan Murano along with a passenger, 43-year-old Stephen Hall. Ball lost control of the vehicle before slamming into a rock wall, causing the SUV to roll. Ball and Hall were not secured by seat belts and were ejected from the vehicle.

Ball was pronounced dead at the scene. Hall sustained critical injuries and was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center for treatment.

No updates on his condition have been provided.

While responders were working to clear the scene, another accident occurred at the same exit involving multiple vehicles. No injuries were reported.

Following the second crash, all eastbound lanes were closed while crews cleaned debris. By 8 a.m., the roadway was cleared and fully reopened.

It is not yet known what caused Ball to lose control of the SUV. If more information becomes available, an update will be provided.

News: Hartsville woman killed in hit-and-run pedestrian collision on I-64 in Illinois

HARTSVILLE, TN – Authorities identified the victim of a fatal hit-and-run pedestrian accident in Illinois on January 9th as 55-year-old Rena Wood of Hartsville.

According to the crash report from Illinois State Police, Wood left her vehicle around 6:30 p.m. while on the shoulder of Interstate 64 near the exit to Highway 159 in Fairview Heights, before she was hit by a vehicle that fled the scene. She was declared deceased at the scene.

Police say the involved vehicle was later located. The driver, 49-year-old Angela Diser of Collinsville, and the passenger, 51-year-old Elaine Hendricks, were not injured in the collision.

The circumstances of the fatal crash are still under investigation by Illinois State Police. We will make an update to this blog if more details are provided.

DAVIDSON CO., TN – The Tennessee Department of Transportation’s Nashville 511 traffic twitter page reported a multi-vehicle accident on I-24 West in Davidson County on Thursday night.

The automated alert stated the collision occurred at 8:03 p.m. near mile marker 39, north of Nashville.

It is unclear how much of the roadway was blocked, however, the scene was expected to be cleared by 9:00 p.m.

News: UPDATE: Victim of fatal pedestrian accident on I-24 West in Nashville identified

NASHVILLE, TN – According to a press release from the Nashville Police Department, the victim of the previously reported fatal pedestrian accident on Interstate 24 West on Wednesday has been identified.

Police say 33-year-old Brittany Lynn Lewis of Nashville died at the scene after being struck by a westbound SUV on I-24 just north of Haywood Lane around 8 p.m.

The SUV driver, 60-year-old Kevin Thomas, stayed at the scene and told authorities he was traveling in the second to far right lane when he spotted Lewis in the center of his lane but did not have time to avoid a collision.

Thomas did not display any signs of impairment.

At this time, authorities are unsure of why Lewis was standing in the roadway, as they did not find any disabled or abandoned vehicles nearby.

NASHVILLE, TN – According to metro police, a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 24 West that killed one motorist is under investigation.

WKRN reports that the accident happened around 8 p.m. Wednesday night at mile marker 56.8, near Haywood Lane. Metro police confirmed the victim passed away.

The right two westbound lanes of I-24 were closed for several hours after the accident, causing heavy traffic delays that neared a standstill. WKRN provided an update at 10:46 p.m. stating the roadway had been fully reopened.

News: Lebanon man dies after being ejected in crash on I-40 in Mt Juliet

MT. JULIET, TN – A Lebanon man died from his injuries after being ejected in a crash on Interstate 40 East in Mount Juliet overnight, reports The Tennessean.

According to a preliminary crash report from the Tennessee Highway Patrol, 21-year-old Spencer Boston was traveling east on I-40 in a 2009 Nissan Altima when he lost control of the vehicle and collided with a traffic barrier.

The Altima was sent spinning counterclockwise for roughly 200 feet down the roadway. Boston was ejected from the vehicle and struck a guardrail support post.

He died at the scene.

Lt. Charles Caplinger indicated blood samples are often taken for drug and alcohol analysis after fatal crashes, though results take time. Authorities did not find any signs of alcohol or drug at the scene.

News: Multiple crashes on I-24 east in Clarksville leave one motorist dead

CLARKSVILLE, TN – The Tennessee Highway Patrol say one motorist is dead following multiple crashes on Interstate 24 east in Clarksville on Wednesday morning, reports Clarksville Now.

The Tennessee Department of Transportation say the collisions occurred around 9:17 a.m at mile marker 10.

According to THP’s preliminary report, the first crash slowed traffic to a stop, leading 31-year-old Devin M. Sproles of Clarksville to crash his 2018 utility van into the rear end of a stopped commercial Freightliner vehicle.

Sproles was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. Although it is unclear if he was wearing a seatbelt, THP’s report says it would not have been enough to save him.

It is also unclear if anyone else was injured.

According to officials, the pedestrian was struck by a car in the westbound lanes of I-24 around 8 p.m. and died in the collision.

Following the crash, authorities closed the right two lanes of I-24 west as well as the on-ramp at Harding Place. It is unclear when the roadway was reopened.
