Crash alert: 71-year-old bicyclist killed in Murfreesboro crash

|MURFREESBORO, TN – A 71-year-old bicyclist was killed in an accident while riding on a street in Murfreesboro Wednesday, WSMV reports.
Police identified the victim as Herbert Knee of Murfreesboro. He was riding a bicycle north on South Church Street shortly before 1 p.m. when the incident occurred. Investigators determined that a woman driving a Nissan Altima was trying make a right turn from Runnymeade Drive onto South Church Street and collided with the bicyclist.
Knee was thrown from the bike and was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
The 20-year-old Altima driver was not hurt and no charges were filed in the accident, though the investigation is continuing.

Crash alert: 67-year-old bicyclist killed in Cumberland County

|CROSSVILLE, TN – A 67-year-old man died of injuries sustained in a bicycle accident in Cumberland County last week, 1057 News reports.
It happened Wednesday afternoon on the 600 block of Clint Lowe Road in Crossville. The victim was identified as Gerald L. Ellis of Lake Tansi. A motorist who saw the incident told authorities that Ellis ran off the road while approaching a curve and flipped over the bicycle handlebar. First responders arrived on the scene to find Ellis in a ditch.
He was transported in an air medical helicopter and died later at an area trauma center. Investigators do not suspect any foul play was involved in the incident.

Crash alert: 11-year-old on bicycle struck by car

|MT. JULIET, TN – A child was hospitalized after being hit by a car while riding a bicycle in Wilson County, according to WKRN.
The accident happened Wednesday afternoon on Windtree Trace Blvd. near Windtree Court in Mt. Juliet, police said. The 11-year-old was taken to the hospital with injuries described as non-life-threatening.
Details have not yet been released on the circumstances that led to the crash.

Bicyclist injured in hit-and-run accident in west Nashville

|NASHVILLE, T.N. – A bicyclist was critically injured in a hit-and-run accident in west Nashville on the night of Monday, June 8, WKRN reports.
The victim was riding his bike on Charlotte Avenue near 28th Avenue North when he was hit by a red car around 10:30 a.m. The driver of the car reportedly placed the victim in his car before driving off into an alley off of 35th Avenue North. The suspect then left the victim at the side of the road.
A bystander then called the police and the victim was taken to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries. The suspect was later located and taken into custody.
