Crash alert: Search on for hit-and-run driver who struck pole in Nashville

NASHVILLE, TN – Police were searching for a hit-and-run driver who struck a power pole and disrupted utility service in Nashville Saturday morning.

According to WKRN, the driver hit the Nashville Electric Service pole at about 2 a.m. on Murfreesboro Pike and Fesslers Lane at about 2 a.m. and then fled the scene.

Police officers found wires down when they arrived, and crews were on the scene working to restore power to the affected area. No further information was released on the vehicle involved in the accident.

Crash alert: Person injured in rollover on I-40 in Bellevue

NASHVILLE, TN – An accident on Interstate 40 in Bellevue left one person injured and snarled traffic early Friday morning. Fox 17 reported it happened just after 4:45 a.m. in the eastbound lanes of I-40 near Old Hickory Boulevard.

The person hurt in the rollover crash was hospitalized with critical injuries, according to Metro Police. The area was closed off to traffic while crews responded to the scene.

All lanes of I-40 reopened later in the morning, but backups remained for several miles in the aftermath of the crash.

Crash alert: Car accident on Edmondson Pike leaves 2 dead

NASHVILLE, TN – Two people were killed when their car went off the road and crashed in south Nashville early Saturday morning, according to a report by WKRN.

28-year-old Yogiraj Khandelwal was driving a Ford Mustang at about 5 a.m. when it ran off the road on Edmonson Pike near Nippers Corner, police said.  The vehicle then struck a guardrail and went through a ravine before coming to rest on its roof.

Khandelwal and a passenger, 26-year-old Lakshmi Kondepudi, both of Brentwood, were pronounced dead.  Investigators said there were no signs of drug or alcohol use.
