Crash alert: Construction worker hurt in fall from roof in Murfreesboro

MURFREESBORO, TN – A construction worker was injured in a fall at a job site in Murfreesboro Tuesday, News Channel 5 reported.

The accident happened on Memorial Boulevard, where the worker fell while framing the roof of a three-story building.

Murfreesboro Fire and Rescue officials said the man landed on the third floor but had to be rescued by emergency crews because there are no staircases yet in the building.

He was lowered to the ground in a basket by first responders and then taken to an emergency department to be treated for his injuries. No information was released on the worker’s condition.

NASHVILLE, TN – The family of a worker killed in a fall at a Nashville construction site has filed a lawsuit, according to News Channel 5.

This is an update to a previous story.

The case involves the death of 16-year-old Gustavo Ramirez, who was on scaffolding when he fell 120 feet at the LaQuinta Inn and Suites hotel project at 315 Interstate Drive on June 23 .

Ramirez’s family filed a civil lawsuit. In the suit, they said the negligence of the companies involved in the construction project caused the teen’s death.

Gustavo Ramirez worked part-time for a subcontractor at the site, Cortez Plastering, police said.
