RUTHERFORD COUNTY, TN – An accident involving a tractor-trailer affected traffic in Rutherford County Wednesday afternoon, according to WKRN.

The vehicle, which was hauling lime, overturned on Interstate 840 eastbound at mile marker 58.5. Minor injuries were reported in the crash.

Crash alert: Tractor-trailer accident on I-65 leaves driver injured

SUMNER COUNTY, TN – An accident involving two tractor-trailers left one of the drivers injured and caused traffic delays in Sumner County.

According to WKRN, the incident happened Wednesday afternoon on Interstate 65 south near mile marker 103.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol said a Volvo semi-truck and a Freightliner sideswiped each other as traffic was slowing on I-65. The two trucks then hit a guardrail, with the Volvo going through the guardrail and overturning in the median of the highway.

The driver of the Volvo, 56-year-old Teddy Essien of Philadelphia, was hospitalized with minor injuries. The other truck driver, 48-year-old James Harvey of Westmoreland, was not hurt.

Southbound traffic was diverted off I-65 after the southbound lanes were shut down, and northbound traffic was slowed by rubbernecking delays.

Crash alert: 2 injured in multi-vehicle accident on I-40

PUTNAM COUNTY, TN – Authorities have released details of an accident involving two cars and two tractor-trailers on Interstate 40 in Putnam County last Friday.

According to 1057 News, two people were injured in the crash, which happened at the 295 mile marker of I-40. It began when the driver of a Kenworth tractor-trailer changed lanes and hit the back of a Nissan Murano.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol said that a Freightliner tractor-trailer and a Toyota Camry were also involved in the crash. The driver of the Nissan Murano, 43-year-old Robert Thorbjornsen, and a passenger, 38-year-old Rachel Thorbjornsen, were both injured in the accident. Details on the severity of their injuries have not been released.

The driver of the Kenworth truck, 55-year-old James Braun of Avon, Indiana, faces a number of charges including failure to exercise due care, violation of the registration law, and violation of financial responsibility law.

PLEASANT VIEW, TN – Traffic was tied up for drivers in part of Robertson County Thursday evening after a tractor-trailer overturned on a highway.

The Tennessean reported the accident happened on Interstate 24 west near Pleasant View, between mile markers 23 and 24. Traffic going eastbound on I-24 was affected with delays through the area. There was no immediate word on any injuries resulting from the incident.

It was expected to take several hours to clear the scene, with the Tennessee Department of Transportation estimating that the roadway would not reopen until at least 9:45 p.m.

CROSSVILLE, TN – Two drivers managed to avoid injury when their vehicles collided on a road in Cumberland County Wednesday, according to 1057 News.

Deputies responded to the scene in Crossville Wednesday morning after the incident involving a car and a pickup truck.

Authorities said 73-year-old Carol Quattrociocchi of Crossville was driving a Honda CR-V on Peavine Road when she made a left turn onto St. George Drive and crashed into a Chevy S-10 pickup driven by 22-year-old Courtney Fallon of Kingston.

The drivers were both restrained when the accident occurred and were not hurt, according to police.

Crash alert: Woman killed when tractor-trailer hits car on I-40

LEBANON, TN – A woman was killed in an accident involving a car and two tractor-trailers on Interstate 40 Thursday evening.

According to WSMV, the incident occurred on I-40 west near mile marker 246 just east of the Linwood exit in Lebanon. Police said 59-year-old Angela Scott was driving a Chevrolet Impala at about 5:30 p.m. when she hit a Freightliner tractor trailer and lost control of her car.

Scott drove off the eastbound lanes, across a median and into the westbound lanes, police said. Her vehicle was then hit by another Freightliner tractor-trailer. Scott was pronounced dead from injuries sustained in the wreck. No one else was hurt.

Police say no charges have been filed. I-40 west was shut down after the accident and drivers were advised to take alternate routes.

CUMBERLAND COUNTY, TN – A pedestrian was fatally struck by a pickup truck in an accident that shut down a highway in Cumberland County Wednesday night, according to 1057 News.

The incident happened on westbound Interstate 40 at the 327 mile marker. The Tennessee Highway Patrol said 52-year-old Richard Dennis Dell Turner got out of his Ford super duty truck when it broke down on the roadway. The vehicle started to roll and was hit by an oncoming Ford F-250 pickup truck. Turner, a resident of Evansville, Indiana, was struck by his truck and killed.

Westbound lanes were closed for hours near the scene for the accident investigation.

CROSSVILLE, TN – An accident involving a pickup truck claimed the life of a man in Cumberland County.

According to 1057 News, the incident happened Wednesday morning on Genesis Road in Crossville. The Tennessee Highway Patrol said 77-year-old Arlen D Aytes of Crossville was driving a Ford Ranger south when he went off the road and then overcorrected. The truck ended up going across the highway, off the side of the road and into a ditch before overturning and hitting a tree.

Aytes, who was restrained at the time, died of injuries sustained in the crash.

CUMBERLAND COUNTY, TN – Authorities in Cumberland County have released details of a recent accident involving a utility terrain vehicle.

1057 News reports that 57-year-old Charles S. Meyers was driving a UTV through a field near Wilson Cemetery Road when he made a turn and the vehicle rolled over.

Deputies and medics were called to the scene and found that the man’s lower left leg had been crushed underneath the UTV. Meyers was hospitalized at University of Tennessee Medical Center.

DONELSON, TN – A woman was killed in an accident involving a car and a semi-truck on Interstate 40 in Donelson early Monday morning. WKRN reported the incident occurred at about 3:15 a.m. on a ramp from I-40 West at the exit for Donelson Pike.

Police said the woman was in a red Honda when it struck the semi that was parked on an off-ramp on the side of the highway. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The ramp was closed to traffic for several hours before reopening shortly after 7:30 a.m.
