Take the Distracted Driving Pledge in 2022

The next time you’re stopped at a red light in Middle Tennessee, take a look around you. How many other drivers are looking at their phones? And while checking your phone at a red light may not seem dangerous, many people look at their phones while their vehicles are in motion, too. In fact, it’s not uncommon to see drivers texting while driving 70 mph or faster on the interstate.

Distracted driving is a growing problem throughout the U.S., including Tennessee. As smartphones become more and more integrated into our lives, many people find it difficult to put them away for any amount of time, even when they are driving! But studies show that it’s impossible to truly multi-task, especially when you are dividing your attention away from the task of driving.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is working hard to stop distracted driving, and it asks all drivers to take a pledge to end this growing epidemic. Drivers who take the pledge say they will:

  • Never text or talk on the phone while driving.
  • Speak out if the driver becomes distracted while they’re a passenger.
  • Encourage their family and friends to drive phone-free.

When distracted drivers cause crashes, we hold them accountable and liable for damages. If you or someone you love was injured in a distracted driving crash, our Nashville car accident lawyers can help. Contact Ponce Law today for a free consultation.
