NASHVILLE, TN – Drivers will be seeing major improvements on Interstate 440 now that the largest project in Tennessee Department of Transportation history is complete, according to a report by WKRN.
The $154.8 million reconstruction of I-440 was finished a month ahead of schedule, the TDOT said. The project included new lanes, lighting and landscaping, along with color overhead message boards and improvements in ramp safety.
On Wednesday night, TDOT crews began the process of opening all lanes following over a year of closures and shutdowns along the highway.
The I-440 corridor will be fully open on July 2 for the 100,000 drivers who use the roadway each day. The TDOT will be holding a caravan that day to celebrate the completion of the project.
