SUMNER COUNTY, TN – An accident involving two tractor-trailers left one of the drivers injured and caused traffic delays in Sumner County.
According to WKRN, the incident happened Wednesday afternoon on Interstate 65 south near mile marker 103.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol said a Volvo semi-truck and a Freightliner sideswiped each other as traffic was slowing on I-65. The two trucks then hit a guardrail, with the Volvo going through the guardrail and overturning in the median of the highway.
The driver of the Volvo, 56-year-old Teddy Essien of Philadelphia, was hospitalized with minor injuries. The other truck driver, 48-year-old James Harvey of Westmoreland, was not hurt.
Southbound traffic was diverted off I-65 after the southbound lanes were shut down, and northbound traffic was slowed by rubbernecking delays.
