by Ponce Law | July 14th, 2020

PERRY COUNTY, TN – Authorities say a woman is facing charges she was involved in a fatal accident while riding her ATV over the weekend, according to a report by WKRN.

The case stems from an incident that occurred at around 7:35 p.m. Saturday on Slink Shoals Road in Perry County. The Tennessee Highway Patrol said 36-year-old Shawna Mathis of Linden was driving a Polaris Ranger south when the vehicle went off the road after she was unable to negotiate a curve.

The ATV struck a tree and then went into a ditch. A passenger, 22-year-old Alex Krantz of Chapmansboro, died from injuries sustained in the crash.

State troopers say criminal charges have now been filed against Mathis, and citations are pending.
