MONTGOMERY COUNTY, TN – Traffic was detoured in Montgomery County Wednesday morning due to an accident involving a dump truck, WKRN reported.

Authorities said it happened just before 4 a.m., when a 2018 Volkswagen Tiguan sideswiped the truck on Interstate 24 at mile marker 16, near the Robertson County line.

The driver of the Volkswagen was hurt, but details on the injuries were not released.

The eastbound lanes of I-24 were shut down from Exit 11 to Exit 19 following the crash, and traffic was diverted onto Highway 41. Drivers near the crash scene were re-directed to head west.

Interstate 24 reopened to traffic about five and a half hours after the accident.
