NASHVILLE, TN – Authorities have identified the driver killed in a collision with a tractor trailer in Nashville Friday night, according to a report by WSMV.

This is an update to a previous story.

The victim was 50-year-old James Danaby of Nashville.  Police say he was driving his pickup truck at about 11:30 p.m. on Interstate 24 near the Shelby Avenue exit ramp, when he slammed into the back of a tractor trailer that had broken down.

Danaby was removed from his vehicle, a 2004 Ford F-150, after being trapped inside. He was later pronounced dead at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

At this point investigators do not believe there was any impairment on the part of either driver that would have contributed to the accident.
