Justin Byrne

Mr. Byrne teaches 5th grade ELA. This typically isn't any students favorite subject. He tries to make the year fun and get these kids excited about writing essays and learning. This year, he made a deal with his students, if they got their TCAP benchmark scores improved a certain # of points as a whole.... He would shave his beard. The kids were excited about taking their tests. When the students found out they met their goal, they couldn't wait to get to school and see the results. What I really liked about this plan is the children that weren't able to improve their grade were still able to participate in the excitement. Children have different abilities and they work hard but they may not be able to meet a goal for various reasons.
