Nashville Dog Bite Lawyers Discuss Disputes Stemming From Canine Attacks

Tennessee dog bite laws create strict liability for canine owners whose animals attack people. However, the Nashville dog bite lawyers at Ponce Law explain that complications can arise if the dog owner disputes the facts surrounding the attack.

Recently, a 4-year-old boy from Nunnelly, Tennessee, suffered serious dog bite injuries after being allegedly attacked by a neighbor’s canine. The family of the boy wants the owner to take responsibility for the animal by keeping it confined or restrained, but he claims his pet wasn’t involved in the attack.

Reports from WSMV 4 News say the attack happened on April 1, as the victim and his father were picking up a friend at a home on Beckham Lane. The friend stated the dog was unrestrained on the porch of the home when it suddenly lunged forward and bit the young victim on the face. As a result of the attack, the boy suffered lacerations to his face, nose, and mouth, along with a broken tooth.

Despite the injuries and witnesses to the attack, the owner of the animal in question denies his dog’s responsibility, saying the bite wounds must have come from another stray dog wandering the neighborhood.

Dog bite disputes like this can be difficult to work out. That’s why Ponce Law would like to offer you some tips about what steps to take when a dog bites.
