Suspected Tennessee Drunk Driving Accident Leave Six Seriously Injured

February 28, 2014

Driving under the influence is a serious problem in Middle Tennessee. In fact, a recent Drunk Driving Accident in Smyrna last week was responsible for leaving six people seriously injured.

According to an article published by The Daily News Journal, the incident happened on Feb. 17, along the Old Nashville Highway. Reports indicate a 53-year-old Murfreesboro man was driving under the influence of alcohol in a Toyota Celica when he swerved to illegally pass a vehicle in front of him and struck a Chevy Trailblazer head-on.

The impact of the collision left six occupants of the SUV, who ranged in ages from 18 to 71, with numerous injuries that each required treatment at local hospitals. Trauma center officials later stated one of the most severely injured accident victims was being listed in stable condition.

The crash leaves many citizens wondering what they can do to help prevent drunken driving accidents. The Nashville Personal Injury Lawyers with Ponce Law explain that refraining from ever getting behind the wheel after consuming alcohol will dramatically slash the chances of an accident. It is also important for motorists to remember to report suspected drunk drivers to the local authorities immediately. Supporting organizations that raise awareness of impaired driving, like Mothers Against Drunk Driving, is another great way to combat the problem.
