NASHVILLE, TN – A pothole on Interstate 24 near the Bell Road exit caused damage to 13 vehicles on Friday, Dec. 4th, according to WKRN and the Tennessee Department of Transportation.

TDOT Officials responded to the incidents, closed the affected lane, and assisted as the damaged vehicles were towed away. According to News 2, a TDOT spokesperson said the pothole had “formed at a bridge joint over Mill Creek and required emergency repairs.” The emergency repairs were then performed by maintenance crews, with plans to schedule permanent repairs already in progress.

TDOT Officials recommend drivers who have experienced damage from hitting a pothole to file a damage claim with the Tennessee Department of Treasury. Each claim is reviewed case-by-case before a decision is made.
