Crash alert: Runner in Nashville fatally struck by motorcycle

NASHVILLE, TN – A man out for a run on a Nashville roadway was fatally struck by a motorcyclist Saturday morning, WKRN reported.

74-year-old Gregory Wood of Goodlettsville was running at about 6:30 a.m. and was crossing Springfield Highway at Gaylemore Drive when he was hit by a Harley Davidson motorcycle, police said.  The motorcycle rider told police that he locked his brakes and that Wood had stopped in the middle of the traffic lane.

Wood was pronounced dead shortly after arrival at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.  The motorcyclist was hospitalized with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

There were no signs that the victim or the motorcyclist were impaired at the time, according to investigators.

Man killed in motorcycle accident in downtown Nashville

NASHVILLE, T.N. – A motorcyclist was killed in a collision in downtown Nashville on Sunday morning, News Channel 5 reports.

28-year-old Phillip Steverson ran into a Nissan Sentra stopped at a red light at the intersection of Demonbreun and 8th Avenue South around 3:15 in the morning. He was thrown off his motorcycle and later declared dead at Vanderbilt Medical Center.

The driver of the Sentra was not injured.

Police officer injured in crash in Hendersonville

HENDERSONVILLE, T.N. – A police officer was injured in a crash in Hendersonville on Friday afternoon, according to News 5 WKRG.

Hendersonville police officer Ed Barry was traveling on a motorcycle on East Main Street near the Bluegrass County Club when he was involved in an accident with another vehicle.

Barry was not seriously injured but was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center for treatment.

The crash remains under investigation.

Man killed in motorcycle wreck in Nashville

NASHVILLE, T.N. – News 4 Nashville reports that a man was tragically killed in a motorcycle accident in Nashville on the afternoon of Wednesday, June 3.

30-year-old Eric Pullens was traveling near the 800 block of Cowan Street on his Honda motorcycle when he attempted to cross the road’s double yellow lines to pass a vehicle. He then lost control of his motorcycle and crashed at 12:45 p.m.

Pullens was rushed to Vanderbilt Medical Center where he was declared deceased. Authorities say there was no trace of drugs or alcohol in his system at the time of the crash.
