SAFE Campaign Aims to Reduce Tennessee Car Accident Injuries

Each year, thousands of Tennesseans are injured or killed in motor vehicle collisions. One of the best ways to protect yourself from car accident injuries is to buckle up, and local police departments are encouraging seatbelt use with a new campaign.

According to The Leaf Chronicle, the Clarksville Police Department (CPD) is currently promoting the 2015 Seatbelts Are For Everyone (SAFE) program. The campaign encourages motorists to always buckle up and use child safety and booster seats with children under age 8.

The use of restraint devices in Tennessee is high—87.7 percent of motorists buckled up last year—one of the highest seatbelt usage rates in state history. However, there’s still room for improvement.

That’s why motorists can expect to see officers citing motorists and passengers who don’t buckle up. Last year, the campaign netted more than 32,000 violations. The campaign will continue until July 31, and participating agencies will have a chance to win new vehicles for their department.

The attorneys at Ponce Law recognize the importance of buckling up, and our Nashville personal injury lawyers encourage putting on your seatbelt the moment you sit in a vehicle. We also ask that you require passengers to do the same.
