When an individual is killed as the result of another entity’s actions or negligence, the family of the victim may have a right to file civil litigation against the parties responsible. The Nashville Wrongful Death Attorneys with Ponce Law explain a settlement was recently reached in a wrongful death case being heard in a Tennessee federal court.
According to an article published by the Knoxville News Sentinel, the 28-year-old victim was piloting a Bell’s Kiowa OH-58D Warrior helicopter in Mosul, Iraq, in Feb. 2010. As the man attempted to land the aircraft, it crashed, resulting in the crew’s death.
The family of one of the victims later filed a lawsuit against the manufacturer of the aircraft, claiming a faulty piece of equipment known as the Full Authority Digital Electronic Control was to blame for the crash. Before the suit could go to trial, the two sides were able to reach an agreement for an undisclosed sum to be paid to the two children and the mother of the victim.
Michael D. Ponce & Associates and their team of Nashville Personal Injury Lawyers recognize how difficult it can be to lose a loved one to an accident caused by another person’s negligence. That’s why the firm hopes the decision will help bring some closure to the loss suffered by the family of the victim.
